'Feeling Hot, Breathing Sweet' Original Artwork
Commemorating the beauty of a relationship's early days, this piece immortalizes those feelings of intensity and softness. I wanted the colors in this piece to evoke warmth alongside a feeling of safety and calm, to feel reminiscent of a landscape because queer love is natural.
I paint moments of peace, safety, and intimate joy because this representation for queer women is nearly absent from our cultural landscape. While visibility around queer struggle is vital, it has made queerness synonymous with trauma – we’re seen in our pain but rarely in our peace. My work deliberately centers quiet domesticity: morning light, resting bodies, love that's tender and unremarkable – except for us, the ordinary has never been guaranteed. These paintings function as visual refuges, insisting that we deserve not just survival, but softness and celebration.
