This painting captures the serenity and beauty of a single moment – the safety and preciousness of waking up in bed, either with oneself or one's partner.
I paint moments of peace, safety, and intimate joy because this representation for queer women is nearly absent from our cultural landscape. While visibility around queer struggle is vital, it has made queerness synonymous with trauma – we’re seen in our pain but rarely in our peace. My work deliberately centers quiet domesticity: morning light, resting bodies, love that's tender and unremarkable – except for us, the ordinary has never been guaranteed. These paintings function as visual refuges, insisting that we deserve not just survival, but softness and celebration.
