'When it Rains it Pours' Original Artwork

'When it Rains it Pours' Original Artwork

Want to learn more? Click the inquiry button below for any inquiries about this painting.

This painting was created in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which ended the nearly 50-year federal constitutional right to abortion in the US. The title and imagery reference the 1930s Morton Salt slogan "When it rains, it pours" – originally a promise of reliability and abundance. Here, that promise is inverted: instead of salt flowing freely even in rain, we're watching access pour away. As one right falls, others follow. The irony is sharp and deliberate – what was once guaranteed now slips through our fingers, and the deluge has only begun.

Sabine Strauch, 2018, Oil on canvas, 48 x 36 inches.
