This painting was created in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which ended the nearly 50-year federal constitutional right to abortion in the US. The title and imagery reference the 1930s Morton Salt slogan "When it rains, it pours" – originally a promise of reliability and abundance. Here, that promise is inverted: instead of salt flowing freely even in rain, we're watching access pour away. As one right falls, others follow. The irony is sharp and deliberate – what was once guaranteed now slips through our fingers, and the deluge has only begun.
